Competition Guidelines and Timeline *

By registering your child for Work the Runway, you acknowledge and agree to the following requirements: All registrations must be submitted no later than October 1, 2025 at 11:59 PM. Each student is required to attend at least one online informational session in September to be eligible to submit a Round 1 Creative Brief. Informational session dates will be provided via email once the registration form is completed. The Round 1 Creative Brief form must be uploaded no later than November 14, 2025 at 11:59 PM. Students will be notified of advancement to Round 2 no later than December 1, 2025; those selected must attend a mandatory Round 2 informational session on December 6, 2025 (invitation will be sent by email). Participation is open only to students enrolled in high school during the 2025–2026 school year within Goodwill South Texas’ 20-county territory. Registration does not guarantee participation. Of all students who enter, only 20 will be selected by the jurors to move to Round 2, and advancement beyond Round 2 is not guaranteed. Students may be disqualified at any time if they fail to meet requirements or deadlines, or if they violate the competition’s Code of Conduct. Students selected to advance to Rounds 2 and 3 must be willing and able to attend the in-person fashion show on May 6–7, 2026 in McAllen, Texas. Discounted hotel accommodations will be provided for students traveling from outside McAllen; however, Goodwill Industries of South Texas is not responsible for travel, travel expenses, or any other personal costs incurred. Any requests for special accommodations must be listed on the registration form. ............................................................................. Media Release: You grant Goodwill Industries of South Texas permission to photograph, record, and use your child’s name, likeness, and work in promotional materials, media coverage, social media, and other marketing channels related to the competition and the mission of Goodwill. Liability Waiver: You release and hold harmless Goodwill Industries of South Texas, its employees, volunteers, partners, and affiliates from any claims or liability arising from participation in the competition, including travel, attendance at events, and use of competition-related facilities. Goodwill is not responsible for lost, stolen, or damaged property. Parental Responsibility: Parents/guardians are responsible for ensuring transportation, timely participation in all deadlines and required events, and for monitoring email regularly for official competition communications.

Competition Code of Conduct *

Code of Conduct: Participation in Work the Runway is a privilege. All students and parents/guardians are expected to follow the guidelines below. Failure to meet these expectations may result in disqualification from the competition at any stage. ............................................................................. Respect & Professionalism – Treat all fellow participants, mentors, jurors, Goodwill staff, volunteers, and event partners with courtesy, professionalism, and respect at all times. Timeliness & Responsibility – Meet all deadlines for submissions, attend all required online sessions, and arrive on time for all in-person events. Academic Standing – Remain enrolled in high school within Goodwill South Texas’ 20-county territory for the duration of the competition. Original Work – Submit only original designs and creations. Plagiarism, copying, or misrepresentation of another’s work is prohibited. Collaboration & Safety – Follow instructions during workshops, fittings, and rehearsals, and use all materials, tools, and spaces safely and responsibly. Conduct at Events – Demonstrate maturity and appropriate behavior at all Goodwill-sponsored events, including the May 2026 fashion show. Digital Etiquette – Use respectful and appropriate communication in all emails, online sessions, and digital platforms related to the competition. Zero Tolerance – Any form of bullying, harassment, discrimination, or use of drugs/alcohol during competition activities will result in immediate disqualification. ............................................................................. Support & Encouragement – Encourage your child’s creativity, independence, and learning throughout the competition without interfering with the judging or design process. Respect for Staff & Jurors – Interact respectfully with Goodwill staff, volunteers, mentors, and jurors. Disruptive or inappropriate behavior by parents/guardians may affect the student’s eligibility. Timely Communication – Ensure your child checks emails regularly, meets all deadlines, and attends required events. Logistical Responsibility – Provide transportation, supervision, and support for your child to attend events and meet obligations, including travel to McAllen for the fashion show if selected. Sportsmanship – Accept the decisions of jurors and organizers with respect. Parents/guardians may not challenge judging decisions, request special treatment, or attempt to influence outcomes. Media & Public Conduct – Uphold the reputation of the competition and Goodwill South Texas in any media or public communications, including social media. Zero Tolerance – Any behavior by parents/guardians that undermines the competition, disrupts events, or disrespects staff, volunteers, or students may result in disqualification of the student participant.
